Corrections Policy

Effective Date: September 20, 2026

DUANEWS is committed to providing accurate, fair, and responsible news and information to our readers.

Although we make reasonable efforts to verify information before publication, errors can sometimes occur. When we identify a significant factual error, we will review it and make an appropriate correction as soon as reasonably practical.

1. Our Commitment to Accuracy

Our editorial team makes reasonable efforts to:

  • Verify information before publication;
  • Use reliable sources;
  • Correct significant factual errors when identified;
  • Update articles when important information changes; and
  • Clearly identify corrections when appropriate.

2. What May Be Corrected

Corrections may be made for significant factual errors, including incorrect:

  • Names;
  • Dates;
  • Locations;
  • Numbers or statistics;
  • Quotes;
  • Descriptions of events; or
  • Other factual information.

Minor typographical, spelling, punctuation, or formatting errors may be corrected without a separate correction notice when the meaning of the article is not materially affected.

3. Article Updates

News stories can develop after publication.

When new information becomes available, DUANEWS may update an article to reflect relevant developments.

An updated article may include an indication that it has been updated, particularly when the new information materially changes the story.

4. How to Request a Correction

If you believe a DUANEWS article contains a factual error, please contact us.

When submitting a correction request, please provide:

  • The title or URL of the article;
  • The specific statement you believe is incorrect;
  • The correct information, if known; and
  • A reliable source or explanation supporting the requested correction.

Correction requests should focus on factual accuracy rather than disagreement with an article’s opinion, analysis, or editorial perspective.

5. Review of Correction Requests

DUANEWS will review correction requests in good faith.

Submitting a correction request does not guarantee that an article will be changed.

Our editorial team may consider available evidence, original reporting, public records, official statements, and other reliable sources when evaluating a correction request.

6. Corrections and Editorial Judgment

DUANEWS retains editorial discretion regarding whether and how corrections are made, subject to applicable law.

When a correction is warranted, we may:

  • Correct the article directly;
  • Add a correction note;
  • Update the article with additional information;
  • Publish a separate correction when appropriate; or
  • Take another reasonable editorial action.

7. Corrections to Published Content

When appropriate, DUANEWS may preserve the original context of a published story while clearly correcting inaccurate information.

We generally do not remove accurate historical reporting simply because a person or organization later disagrees with it.

Requests to remove content for reasons other than factual accuracy may be evaluated separately.
