Another tropical system is showing signs of development in the Atlantic, and it could soon become the next named storm of the 2026 hurricane season.
The system, known as AL91, was located several hundred miles east-northeast of Bermuda Monday morning. Thunderstorm activity around the system has become better organized as it moves across the central subtropical Atlantic.
The National Hurricane Center placed the system’s chances of development at 70% within 48 hours and 80% over the next seven days, according to the latest report cited by ClickOrlando.
If the system develops into a tropical storm, it would receive the name Hanna, the next name on the Atlantic hurricane list.
What does this mean for Florida?
For now, the news is reassuring for Florida residents: the system does not pose an immediate threat to the state. It is far out in the Atlantic and is expected to continue moving eastward during the next couple of days.
The system may also have limited time to strengthen. Forecasters expect environmental conditions to become less favorable for tropical development later this week.
Still, with the Atlantic hurricane season continuing through November, residents across Florida should continue monitoring tropical activity as conditions can evolve.
