A juvenile was hospitalized after being shot outside an Orlando-area high school following a football game Friday night, according to police.

The shooting happened at Ocoee High School, west of Orlando, after the football game between Jones High School and Ocoee High School ended.

Ocoee police said officers responded to several fights in the school parking lot following the game.

At approximately 9:24 p.m. Friday, a juvenile was shot in the lower extremities during the disturbance.

The victim was taken to a local hospital. Police said the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Investigation continues Saturday

Authorities remained at the school Friday night as investigators worked to determine exactly what led to the shooting.

As of Saturday morning, police had not publicly released the victim’s age or identity, and authorities had not announced the identity of a suspect.

No other injuries were reported.

The Ocoee Police Department said the investigation remains active and that additional information will be released as it becomes available.

The shooting comes as students, families and spectators had gathered at the campus for Friday night’s high school football matchup.

For now, several important questions remain unanswered — including what triggered the fights, who fired the shot and whether anyone will face charges.
