Tuesday will bring another unsettled day across much of Florida, but the chances of rain will vary considerably depending on where you are.
If you’re hoping for a mostly dry day, South Florida and parts of Southwest Florida appear to have some of the better chances, while North Florida and the Panhandle are expected to remain much wetter.
Miami
Miami is expected to be mostly sunny for much of the day. There is still about a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly later in the afternoon, but the city has one of the better chances of staying dry for much of Tuesday.
Fort Myers
Fort Myers could also see several dry hours. The National Weather Service forecasts partly sunny conditions with about a 40% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. Temperatures could reach around 88°F.
Pensacola
Conditions improve somewhat in the western Panhandle, but rain remains possible. Tuesday is expected to bring a chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible later in the day.
Orlando
Central Florida will have a greater chance of rain. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more likely during the afternoon, with rain chances around 60%.
Tampa
Tampa could see scattered showers and thunderstorms, with rain becoming more widespread during parts of the afternoon.
Tallahassee
Keep the umbrella close in Florida’s capital. Tallahassee has about a 90% chance of rain Tuesday, with showers and possible thunderstorms throughout the day. Another half-inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain could fall.
Ocala
Ocala is also expected to have a very wet Tuesday. The chance of precipitation is 100%, with showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rainfall.
Gainesville
Gainesville has a 100% chance of precipitation Tuesday. Showers are expected throughout the day, with thunderstorms possible after late morning. Between three-quarters of an inch and one inch of additional rain could fall.
Jacksonville
Jacksonville is another city where staying dry will be difficult. The National Weather Service puts the chance of precipitation at 100%, with showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rainfall. Another 1 to 2 inches of rain could fall.
Where Are the Best Chances to Stay Dry?
Among the major cities, Miami and Fort Myers appear to have some of the better chances for extended dry periods Tuesday, although neither city is guaranteed to stay completely rain-free.
The wettest conditions are expected across parts of North Florida, the Big Bend and Northeast Florida, including Jacksonville, Gainesville, Ocala and Tallahassee.
So if you’re heading out Tuesday, South Florida may offer the better weather — while umbrellas will be essential farther north.
