JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Another deadly motorcycle crash has pushed Duval County’s traffic death toll to 128 in 2026, highlighting the continuing dangers on Jacksonville’s roads.
The latest fatal accident occurred Sunday evening, October 11, along Hodges Boulevard, where a motorcycle and a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck collided.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO), the motorcyclist, a man in his late 20s, suffered fatal injuries in the collision.
The impact was powerful enough to cause the pickup truck to overturn, leaving a serious crash scene for emergency responders and investigators.
Another Life Lost on Jacksonville Roads
Authorities have not publicly released the motorcyclist’s identity.
Investigators are working to determine exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the collision. Details about the vehicles’ movements, their speeds and whether any traffic violations contributed to the crash have not been confirmed.
The latest death brings the number of traffic fatalities reported in Duval County this year to 128, according to JSO.
A Growing Concern for Drivers
The latest tragedy is another reminder of the risks faced by motorists and motorcyclists on Jacksonville’s busy roadways.
Motorcyclists are particularly vulnerable in collisions because they lack the physical protection provided by passenger vehicles.
Authorities regularly encourage drivers to check blind spots, maintain safe distances and remain attentive when approaching intersections or changing lanes.
Investigation Continues
JSO is continuing its investigation into the crash. Officials have not announced whether any charges are expected.
Additional information may become available as investigators complete their examination of the collision.
