Dogs attack woman and police officers in Miami-Dade

A woman was left in critical condition after being attacked by multiple dogs Thursday evening in northwest Miami-Dade County, authorities said.

The attack happened shortly after 6 p.m. near Northwest 145th Street and 11th Court in the Biscayne Gardens area.

When Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived, the woman was being treated by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedics. Deputies also found several dogs in the yard of a nearby home.

Authorities said deputies attempted to secure a gate and contain the animals, but the dogs tried to attack one of the deputies. A deputy then fired in the direction of the dogs, causing them to retreat and flee. Officials said it was unclear whether any of the animals were hit.

The woman was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Her identity has not been released.

Miami-Dade Animal Services said one of the dogs has been captured, while authorities continue searching for three others believed to have been involved in the attack.
