FLORIDA — Floridians can expect another warm late-September day on Wednesday, with plenty of sunshine in parts of the state but a chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms from North Florida all the way to Miami.
Temperatures across Florida’s major cities will generally climb into the upper 80s, while rain chances will increase during the afternoon and evening.
Jacksonville: Mostly sunny, with a few afternoon storms
Jacksonville could see one of the more pleasant days across the state.
Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high near 87°F. The National Weather Service gives Jacksonville about a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon.
East winds could reach 6 to 11 mph, with occasional gusts up to approximately 17 mph.

Central Florida will follow a similar pattern.
Orlando is expected to reach approximately 87°F, with partly sunny skies for much of the day.
The chance of rain and thunderstorms increases after about 2 p.m., with precipitation chances around 30%.
Anyone planning an afternoon visit to theme parks or other outdoor attractions should keep an eye on the radar, although widespread all-day rain is not expected.
Tampa: Rain chances increase toward the evening
Tampa will be slightly warmer, reaching around 88°F Wednesday.
The day should begin partly sunny, but scattered showers could develop later in the afternoon.
Rain chances are around 30% during the day, before increasing Wednesday evening. The National Weather Service currently gives the Tampa area a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday night, particularly during the earlier part of the evening.
The overnight low will be around 74°F.
Miami and South Florida: Higher chance of rain
South Florida will have a greater chance of seeing rain Wednesday.
Miami is forecast to reach around 87°F, with approximately a 50% chance of thunderstorms during the day.
Miami Beach could see a slightly higher rain chance of around 60%, while temperatures remain near 87°F.
This comes after recent rain combined with seasonal king tides produced flooding in portions of South Florida.
