Thinking about spending Saturday at the beach? Depending on where you are in Florida, you may want to keep an eye on the sky — and the surf.

Saturday will bring another warm day across much of the state, but showers and thunderstorms remain possible, particularly in parts of North and South Florida.

Jacksonville: Keep the umbrella nearby

Jacksonville Beach may not offer the best beach weather Saturday.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, with showers becoming more likely during the afternoon.

Temperatures near the beach are expected to reach around 81°F, with southeast winds and seas around 2 feet.

If you’re planning a beach trip in Northeast Florida, the morning may offer a better opportunity, but conditions could change as the day progresses.

Miami Beach: Better beach weather — but there’s a warning

South Florida looks more promising.

Miami Beach is expected to be partly sunny Saturday with a high around 88°F. The chance of showers and thunderstorms is around 30%, with the better chance arriving late in the day.

But beachgoers need to pay attention to the ocean.

The National Weather Service says a high risk of rip currents remains in effect along Atlantic Coast beaches in South Florida through Saturday evening.

That means even if the sky looks inviting, swimming conditions could be dangerous.

South Florida will also feel very hot and humid, with heat index values potentially climbing into the low to mid-100s in some areas.

What about the rest of Florida?

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain possible across Florida during the weekend, with afternoon and evening storms a familiar possibility.

Conditions can also vary significantly from one part of the state to another.

So, is Saturday a beach day?

Yes — but choose your location and timing carefully.

South Florida could see several hours of decent beach weather, although swimmers should take the rip-current threat seriously.

In Northeast Florida, including Jacksonville Beach, the forecast is less favorable, with a greater chance of showers and thunderstorms.

If you’re heading out, check the latest local forecast before leaving home — and never ignore beach warning flags or rip-current advisories.

Florida weather can change quickly, especially near the coast.
