Homicide investigation underway in Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide after officers responded to Stafford Road on Sunday afternoon.

Police arrived in the area at approximately 1:46 p.m. and began a homicide investigation. Authorities have not yet publicly identified the victim or released information about a possible suspect.

The investigation remains active, and JSO is expected to provide additional information as detectives work to determine what happened.

Residents in the area reported seeing a significant police presence and part of the street blocked off during the investigation.

JSO has scheduled a media briefing for 6 p.m. Sunday, where additional details about the case could be released.
