Friday is bringing very different weather conditions across Florida. While some southern cities could enjoy periods of sunshine, other communities are preparing for thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and the approaching Hurricane Isaias.
From Jacksonville and Orlando to Miami, Tampa and the Florida Panhandle, here is what residents can expect as the weekend begins.
South Florida: Some Sunshine Between the Clouds
Miami could see one of the better opportunities for sunshine Friday, particularly during the morning. Temperatures are expected to reach 89°F, although scattered thunderstorms remain possible later in the day.
Fort Lauderdale will also experience periods of sunshine, with a high near 91°F. The best opportunity for brighter skies is expected around midday, before thunderstorms become possible during the evening.
Key West should enjoy a mixture of sunshine and clouds, with temperatures reaching approximately 89°F. Brief thunderstorms could interrupt the otherwise warm and humid conditions.
Naples will see more clouds than sunshine, with temperatures around 90°F. A few thunderstorms could develop, particularly around midday and later in the afternoon.
Central Florida: Rain Could Interrupt Friday Plans
Orlando is forecast to reach 90°F, but residents should prepare for showers and thunderstorms. The chance of rain is approximately 88%, with unsettled weather possible during the morning and evening.
Tampa will also face a wet and humid Friday. Temperatures could climb to 88°F, but thunderstorms and occasional heavy downpours are expected. The chance of precipitation is around 88%.
With recent heavy rainfall across Central Florida, residents should remain alert for localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas and streets with poor drainage.
Northeast Florida: Jacksonville Faces Another Wet Day
Jacksonville is unlikely to enjoy much sunshine Friday. Cloudy skies, showers and thunderstorms are expected, with a high around 81°F.
The chance of precipitation is approximately 91% during the day, increasing to 95% Friday night.
Breezy conditions and periods of heavy rain could make travel difficult, particularly during thunderstorms.
North Florida: Hurricane Isaias Raises Concerns
Tallahassee is preparing for a rainy Friday, with temperatures reaching approximately 74°F. Thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and gusty winds are possible as Hurricane Isaias approaches the northern Gulf Coast.
Pensacola faces some of the most dangerous weather conditions in the state. The approaching hurricane is expected to bring increasingly heavy rainfall, damaging winds and the threat of coastal flooding.
Temperatures in Pensacola are forecast to reach around 72°F, but sunshine will not be the main concern. Residents should follow hurricane warnings and evacuation instructions issued by local authorities.
So, Where Will the Sun Shine Friday?
Based on the latest forecasts, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Key West have some of the best chances of seeing sunshine during parts of Friday.
Naples may experience occasional brighter periods, although clouds and thunderstorms remain likely.
Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Tallahassee and Pensacola are expected to face significantly wetter conditions.
The weather could change quickly, especially as Hurricane Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast. Residents should monitor local forecasts and National Weather Service alerts throughout Friday.
