October 9, 2026 — Parents across the United States are being warned to check a baby product sold online after federal testing revealed the presence of three types of alcohol that were not disclosed on its label.
According to a recall notice published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on October 7, Pacific Health Sciences has voluntarily recalled one lot of Babies’ Magic Tea brand Baby Sleep Gripe Water, a dietary supplement marketed for babies.
The product was distributed through Secrets of Tea and sold online, including through Amazon.
FDA laboratory testing identified ethanol, methanol and isopropanol in the affected product. None of these substances was declared on its label.
The agency reported concentrations of approximately 8.3% ethanol, 0.35% methanol and 0.48% isopropanol.
The findings have raised safety concerns because infants can be particularly vulnerable to alcohol exposure, depending on their age, body weight and the amount consumed.
According to the recall notice, exposure may cause drowsiness, changes in behavior, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and problems with coordination. Higher exposure could lead to more serious complications, including breathing difficulties.
Which Product Is Being Recalled?
The recall affects Babies’ Magic Tea Baby Sleep Gripe Water sold in four-ounce amber bottles packaged inside blue cardboard boxes. Each package includes an oral syringe.
The affected products carry lot number 25122bw and a best-before date of December 2028.
The company said it had not received any reports of adverse health events associated with the recalled lot as of the announcement.
What Should Parents Do?
Parents and caregivers who purchased the affected product should stop using it immediately.
The FDA notice advises consumers to discard the product or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
Anyone who notices symptoms after giving the product to a child should seek medical attention.
Consumers can contact Pacific Health Sciences at 310-457-1775 or [email protected] for additional information.
The recall was initiated voluntarily by the company with the knowledge of the FDA.
The incident highlights the importance of checking official recall notices, particularly for products intended for infants and young children.
DUANEWS will continue monitoring FDA safety alerts and product recalls affecting families across the United States.
