Tropical Storm Fay is continuing to weaken as it moves slowly southward over the Atlantic, far from the United States.
The storm was located about 430 miles southwest of the Azores Monday afternoon, with maximum sustained winds of around 50 mph and higher gusts.
Fay was moving south at approximately 5 mph. Forecasters expect the storm to gradually turn toward the southwest and then west-southwest over the next few days.
The National Hurricane Center expects Fay to continue weakening and potentially become a post-tropical remnant low within the next couple of days.
Tropical-storm-force winds currently extend up to 80 miles from the center. The storm’s estimated minimum central pressure is 1000 millibars.
There are currently no coastal watches or warnings in effect, and the National Hurricane Center reports no land hazards associated with Fay at this time.
