Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver of a dark-colored Mercedes SUV involved in a deadly hit-and-run early Sunday morning.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, a 65-year-old Pinellas Park man was riding a motorcycle southbound on 4th Street North when the Mercedes, traveling northbound, turned west onto 9th Avenue North in front of the motorcycle shortly after 1 a.m. The motorcyclist was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he later died.
Police released surveillance video Monday showing the SUV they are searching for. Investigators say the Mercedes is believed to have significant damage to its front-right side. The driver left the scene and has not been identified publicly.
Anyone with information is asked to contact St. Petersburg Police at 727-893-9970. The investigation remains ongoing.
