Sunday will bring a familiar mix of sunshine, heat and scattered thunderstorms across Florida, but conditions will vary depending on where you are in the state.
Jacksonville and Northeast Florida will have one of the wetter forecasts. Jacksonville has a 60% chance of rain and thunderstorms, with storms becoming more likely during the afternoon. The high will be around 87°F, and rainfall totals of roughly a quarter to half an inch are possible.
Orlando and Central Florida should start the day with plenty of sunshine before the possibility of afternoon storms increases. Orlando is expected to reach around 90–91°F, with about a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly later in the afternoon.
Tampa Bay will also be hot. Temperatures should climb to around 90°F, but the humidity could make it feel closer to 100°F. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible late in the day, with rain chances around 30%.
South Florida will be hotter but generally drier. Miami is forecast to reach around 88°F, with the heat index potentially climbing to around 101°F. The chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm is only about 20%.
Beachgoers in South Florida should pay particular attention to conditions along the Atlantic coast. The National Weather Service has a high risk of rip currents through Sunday evening.
Overall, Sunday will not be a washout across Florida. Much of the state could see decent periods of sunshine, especially during the morning, but anyone making outdoor plans should keep an eye on the sky during the afternoon and evening.
The umbrella will be especially useful in Northeast Florida, while sunscreen and plenty of water will be just as important farther south.
